As far as I know the only way is to check if it has the Alpina letters under the BMW logo on the back. You can also check the badge on the steering wheel in the future, it should be the Alpina badge and not the BMW one

The Alpina's rear-view mirrors are the same colour as the bodywork and the interior is different (steering wheel, seats, dials, etc.).
